Ibane Gaels captured the Rebel Og West Minor B Hurling Championship title with a hard fought win over St Patricks played in Rossmore.

This was a final played between 2 amalgamated teams, St Patricks being made up of clubs around the Skibbereen area. Patricks started better and were 2 points up before Ibane got on the scoreboard, it was tough hard hurling where the more physically stronger Patricks were going better,  then at the 15th minute mark a long range John Whelton free found its way to the net and it settled Ibane who started to get to grips with the challenge. Things got better for Ibane when Mark Crowley was on hand to finish off a good goal which  gave Ibane a half time lead of 2-04 to 0-05.There was some straight talking done at half time as everyone knew St Patricks were going to come out strong  in the second half and by 40 .mins the gap had been reduced to 2 points, Patricks were on top at this stage and it took a great Conor Madden save to keep them out. Ibane gradually played themselves back in to the game with some clever hurling and a Daniel O Driscoll goal  put Ibane in a great position with less than 10 minutes left , Patricks never gave up but the Ibane defence stood firm and the final whistle brought great delight to the players management and supporters. This was  a great victory for this group of lads who have won very little previous to this it was also nice to see supporters of both clubs Barryroe and Timoleague mixing with each other after and enjoying the victory.
