Sunday 21 Sep 2014U16 Camogie - County Championship

Barryroe, 12:30PM

Barryroe ran out easy winners in this County Championship game in Barryroe on Sunday.

Blarney had the first two points, but Kate Whelton levelled matters with points in 10th and 11th minutes. Marie Dineen, coming back to her best, pushed the home side ahead and from then to the break, only one team was scoring. Blarney attacked, but could get no change from a solid home defence, with young Róisin Dullea among those to catch the eye.

Ciara O'Sullivan pointed, Rachel Sheehy added a couple, before Hannah Whelton took centre stage. A goal on 24 minutes was quickly followed by a point and when Marie Dineen and Niamh O'Sullivan goaled, Blarney's only reply was a point and the home side led 3-08 to 0-3 at the interval.

Hannah Whelton had a couple of early second half points, Blarney pulled one back, but a Marie Dineen goal killed any chance of a come back from the visitors. Rachel Sheehy, Hannah Whelton, Marie Dineen and Therese Mc Carthy added points and while Blarney added 5 points in the second half, with time almost up, Hannah Whelton found Rachel Sheehy and she burst through to crash the ball to the net.

A good display, with the younger players more than holding their own on a beautiful Autumn day.
