On Saturday Barryroe u16's took on Inniscarra in the County Championship and ran out winners to go forward to the quarter final v Charleville next weekend.
On a blustery showery day,  Inniscarra opened the score with 2 point before Barryroe's Kate Whelton scored a point. Following a great pass from Marie Dineen, Hannah Whelton went through the Inniscarra defense and scored a superb goal. Kate Whelton continued her scoring for the Blues with 2 further points before Inniscarra responded with another point. Marie Dineen finished the first half with a fantastic goal. Half time score Barryroe 2-3 v Inniscarra 0-3.
Early in the second half Inniscarra burst through Barryroe's defense and scored a quick goal.  Rachel Sheehy opened her scoring with a point from a free, followed by a second free. Kate Whelton passed a great ball into Aoife Kearney who scored a fantastic goal, followed by a further goal again by Aoife Kearney who had Inniscarra's defense in disarray.  Great defense by Barryroe with Mari-Claire Whelton, Niamh Whelton, Sally Smith and Caroline McCarthy denying Inniscarra a way through. Two further points from Rachel Sheehy completed the scoring for Barryroe. Final score Barryroe 4-6 v Inniscarra 1-6.
