Saturday 07 Nov 2015Ibane Minor Football - County League S/Final

Cill Na Martra, 14:30PM

Ibane Gaels 1-07 Sliabh Luachra Gaels 1-10

Ibane's Minor Footballers season came to an end with defeat to Sliabh Luachra Gaels in the county league semi-final played in Cill Na Martra. Ibane had chances to be well up at half time but the radar was off and both teams retired at half time level at 0-03 each. Ibane had the advantage of wind in the 2nd half however the exertions of playing 2 knockout games in 48 hours caught up with the players and the Kiskeam/Ballydesmond outfit built up a lead of 1-07 to 0-04 , a Bill Fleming penalty gave Ibane hope and brought it back to a 3 point game that was as good as it got and the final score ended 1-10 to 1-07 in favour of the Duhallow team. Ibane lost nothing in defeat as the lads fought till the end and can look back on a successful year where they claimed a West League +Championship double. This team was playing at B level in U15 in 2012 and to beat teams like Ross, Dohenys and Naomh Aban to win A titles in 2015 has shown how much they have improved .Special praise must be given to Paul Holland who trained this team and has given the team  the benefit of his coaching experience which has brought them on enormously.
