Barryroe 0-14 Muintir Bhaire 0-11

Drimoleague was the venue for Barryroe's maiden championship game of the season, conditions were dry and cool and ideal for football.

Barryroe were struck down with two injuries from the programmed team which saw Conor O'Regan introduced into the fullback line with Patrick Moloney being pushed out to the wing and Ciaran Hurley replacing Jason Fleming resulting in Jack Murphy drifting out to Midfield.

Early scores from Ciaran Hurley and Mark Crowley had Barryroe into a commanding lead of 0-05 to 0-02 after 13 mins, a lead which they would never relinquish, but was under threat in the 16 minute when Conor Madden had to make a smart save to his right, the resulting 45 pushed wide by the Muintir Bhaire corner forward. In the 21st minute Gearoid Holland picked up a harsh yellow which would prove costly in the second half. Both teams traded scorable frees resulting in both teams retiring at half time with Barryroe leading 0-09 to 0-05.

Barryroe were first off the mark in the 2nd half with a point which was quickly cancelled out by 2 pointed free's from the boot of the corner forward from Muintir Bhaire. 15 minutes into the 2nd half and Gearoid's earlier yellow card came back to haunt us, but this is when Barryroe dug deep with inspiring scores from Ciaran and Mark to allievate some of the pressure (and tension) which was building. From here to the end Barryroe battened down the hatches and with the defence only coughing up the odd free, and even with the added inconvenience of losing Tadgh to a straight red 5 minutes from the end, Muintir Bhaire never looked like opening us up to score the goal they desperately needed.

All up a great performance from all our lads, considering the late withdrawals of Jason and Kieran which resulted in a considerable reshuffle. Kudos to Ciaran and Conor who both and good games considering the late call ups.
