Ibane Ladies 4-06 V Muintir na Gael 3-08

On a fine Saturday afternoon Ibane U14 girls took on Muintir na Gael. This was a great game from the minute the ball was thrown in. Ibane were first to score with a super point from Ciara Collins after 2 minutes.  As this was only Ibanes second game of the season, it was a learning curve for them and they got stuck in. From the backs – Rachel Cahalane, Naomi Murphy & Sarah Harrington up to the forwards of Megan Murphy (she was on a roll today) Rebecca Freyne and Ciara Collins, all played fantastic and fought hard for every ball. 

The opposition scored a few points before Megan got her first of three goals today.   This was followed swiftly by a point from her and another point from Ciara, before Megan got 2 quick goals, with a super pass in from Hannah Cunningham. Muintir got a goal just at the break of half time.

At the start of second half it was Muintirs turn to put on the pressure and scored 3 points and a goal without a response from us but we were lucky that Chloe Hurley had some great saves and deflected at least two over the bar which could have gone into the back of the net. With some great passes from the backs out to Eva & Sinead in midfield they got the ball up to Megan again and she scored another  point followed by a point from Ciara. It was getting very exciting at this stage as we were now level. The girls never gave up and great credit goes out to Shona Hurley, Chloe Collins, Claire Tobin for keeping the ball going up to the forwards. A few changes were made and Isobel Crowley came into the forward line, Muintir scored a further 2 points to really put the pressure on for the last 10 minutes of the game. With some great passing from the girls and pure determination, Sarah Harrington found the back of the net and Megan scored another point. We couldn’t wait for the final whistle to go.
