Monday 31 Oct 2016Ibane Minor Hurling - Kate Fleming Memorial Cup

Timoleague, 14:00PM

Ibane Gaels 4-09 Newcestown 2-19

Ibane were edged out by Newcestown in the annual Kate Fleming cup game played in Timoleague on a lovely Bank Holiday afternoon. There was little between the teams throughout the game until Newcestown with numerical advantage eased clear in the last 10 minutes. The sides were level at half time 1-06 to 0-09, Cathal Sheehy with the goal for Ibane. Newcestown started to pick the points off in the 2nd half but Ibane kept in touch with goals from Darragh O'Donovan and Bill Fleming(2) and the sides were level with 50 minutes played, it was Newcestown who finished the stronger and ran out 4 point winners.

This was Ibane's last game of the season and all players present on the day were given a run, while the minors did not have success on the trophy scene this year the players put in a big effort and thanks to the efforts of coach's Danny Murphy and Jason Fleming they should be in the shake up for honours next year as all but 8 of the panel are underage next year.
