First time finalists, Barryroe could do nothing wrong as they marched to a magnificent county junior B football championship triump at Ballinaspittle last Sunday.
Coming up to the break in a one-sided decider the signs were that the Southwest champions would be the ones to succeed as a brace of points from Denis Harrington had them 0-05 to 0-03 clear entering the last ten minutes before the break.
This view was reinforced with a 24th minute goal from Denis Harrington followed excellent approach play involving, Kevin McCarthy, Harrington and Gearoid Whelton who gave a reverse pass to his corner forward colleague and Harrington made no mistake. With 11 of their starting lineout under 21 the light blues went in at the interval, 1-07 to 0-03 to the good and went from strength to strength in a closing half where they contained the losers to a single point.
