The home side played some lovely hurling at times on their way to what was in the end a convincing win over a Newcestown team short a number of regulars. Played in perfect conditions on the well prepared Barryroe sod, the home side led at half-time by 2-6 to 0-2 after playing with the aid of the slight breeze. Some great defending by the Barryroe full-back line aided by lengthy clearances from their half-back counterparts ensured Newcestown never really threatened to close the gap in the second half. At the other end of the field, the Barryroe forward line kept the scoreboard ticking over with some lovely points in particular and the scoring was rounded off with a well taken long range free from Alphie Walsh.
