Carrigaline, 14:00PM

Ibane Gaels 1-06 Bishopstown 2-10

Ibane Gaels bowed out of the U21 Premier 2 Hurling Championship after being beaten by Bishopstown in the third round played in Carrigaline. Ibane got off to a bad start conceding a goal in the first minute but were quickly on level terms when a long range Ted Kearney free found the net, both teams found scores hard to come by with only two from play in the first half, Ibane's point from Eoin Lawton. The sides retired at half time 1-06 to 1-04 in favour of  Bishopstown.

The second half continued in the same way with little happening on the scoreboard and Ibane finding it hard to get the better of the City side's defence which meant as the 50th minute passed the score read 1-10 to 1-05 Ibane's point coming from Ted. Ibane needed a goal but despite being awarded a succession of close in frees the elusive goal could not be found and it was the Bishopstown lads who broke away to get the clinching goal to leave it 2-10 to 1-05 at the final whistle.

Ibane were disappointed naturally at losing but more so that they didn't perform to the best of their ability on the day but credit to Bishopstown who were better over the hour. This was still a satisfactory season for the lads who had gone up playing a higher grade and had acquitted themselves well by taking Carrigaline to a replay and beating their West Cork rivals Ahan Gaels. Thanks to the lads for all their effort and the backroom team of Barry and Jason as coaches who brought the lads on big time and selectors Vincent, John Michael and Donal not forgetting Dah for all his help on match days.
