Barryroe 1-09 Kilbrittain 2-08

Despite having the lion’s share of possession in the first half, Barryroe trailed at half-time 0-05 to 1-05 due in large to some wayward shooting and the outstanding play of the Kilbrittain netminder. An exciting second half ensued and it was the turn of Barryroe keeper Cillian Coakley to rescue his team on a couple of occasions. Kilbrittain led by a goal entering the closing stages and after captain Se Gannon reduced the deficit with a neat point, Barryroe pushed hard for the winning goal. Alas it was not to be as corner-forward David James Hitz, in the right place at the right time to take advantage of some unselfish play by one of his forward colleagues, was foiled by another excellent stop from the Kilbrittain goalie. Best of luck to Kilbrittain as they move forward in the cup competition whilst Barryroe turn their attention to a shield semi-final in the next week or so.
