Paula O'Leary Memorial Camogie Blitz

01 August, 2016

The Paula O’Leary Memorial U10 Camogie Cup and Shield competitions for 2016 were staged in the GAA grounds in Barryroe on Saturday 30th July. Barryroe were joined by Clonakilty, Enniskeane and Valley Rovers for the now annual event on the calendar.

Conditions were ideal and the large number of supporters were entertained by what they saw. To the delight of the locals, both Barryroe teams made the finals. Up first was the Shield Final and a young Barryroe team had to give way to a stronger Enniskeane team in the final but left their coach Mark Hand proud of their performance. The Cup Final pitted Barryroe against Clonakilty. In a very close game, a stout defense and opportunistic goals by Sarah Harte, Emma Collins and Madeline McCarthy tipped the result in Barryroe’s favour.

Joe O’Leary performed the presentation of medals to all participants and the trophies to Enniskeane and Barryroe before everyone headed back to the clubhouse for a good feed.

A huge thank you to all who assisted on the day.

The full squad for the day was : Alannah Sexton, Ciardha McCarthy, Emma Collins, Mia O’Driscoll, Aoibhinn McKeogh, Denise Fleming, Meabh O’Sullivan, Sarah Harte, Caoimhe Whelton, Saoirse Whelton, Riona Collins, Loren Hitz, Joanne O’Sullivan, Jill McCarthy, Ella McSweeney, Lucy Kirby, Natalie McCarthy, Leah Fleming Hand, Olive O’Flynn, Rachel Flynn, Lola O’Donnell and  Madelaine McCArthy.
