The minutes of the 2015 AGM were read and this was followed by the Secretary’s report for 2016.

Richard Murphy, our secretary, was complimented by the Chairman on presenting such a detailed report which was then passed by the meeting. This was followed by the treasurer’s report which was professionally presented by our treasurer, Michael Coleman, and which outlined the healthy financial situation of the club for the year ending 2016. The report was then accepted by those present.

The chairman then said a few words and thanked his fellow officers and committee members for all their trojan work during the year. He also thanked the various teams and their mentors for their efforts. He congratulated the Ibane Gaels U21 football team on winning the County B title and he also congratulated the Junior hurling team on winning the South West Junior C Championship. He expressed the hope that some of the Junior players will commit for a full season and make every effort with the Intermediate hurling team next year.

The next item on the agenda was the collection of membership fees for 2016, where the amount remained unchanged at €50 for playing member, ditto for family membership, €30 for non-playing member. Secretary Richard Murphy outlined how the club will shortly offer the facility of attaining membership on-line with the hope this will boost membership numbers in future.

The election of officers was next on the agenda. All outgoing officers were returned uncontested.

The executive thanked Arthur Tobin, Densy Whelton, Kevin McCarthy & Batt Whelton for their sterling work with the adult teams. Brendan Coleman will now assume overall responsibility for the management of the adult teams, selectors and a football coach will be appointed at his discretion in the near future.

The meeting concluded with a short discussion on how the club should mark a major milestone next year, as the club will celebrate its 125th birthday. It was decided that a sub-committee be formed early in the new year to formulate a plan of action.
