Barryroe CĂșl Camp 2017

12 August, 2017

Barryroe GAA would like to thank all those who helped in any way with Cúl Camp 2017. We especially thank the almost 160 boys and girls that took part and enjoyed themselves and their parents for bringing them along, the 17 young club players who assisted the coaches with the various groups, the 15 club coaches who gave so generously of their time this past week, our traffic and first aid supervisors who helped ensure the safety of all during a busy week, Margaret O’Sullivan and her fantastic catering crew for putting on a fabulous BBQ on the last day, Micheal Hurley for the use of his BBQ equipment and Barryroe Co-Op and Dan Moloney who generously donated food for the BBQ, the groundstaff of Barryroe GAA for having the pitch and dressing rooms in great order and for having the flag flying for us each day and anyone else who helped out in any way (big or small) - you know who you are.

A special word of thanks must go to our great team of coaches for the week - Timmy Murphy, Mark Sugrue, Micheal Martin, Jack Meade and Luke Meade - who made the week so enjoyable for the kids. Thank you also to Sports Performance Coach, Paudie Kissane for the work he did with the older groups on Thursday, to Cork ladies football captain and 8-time All-Ireland winner Ciara O’Sullivan for coaching the girls on Wednesday and passing on the benefit of her enormous experience and to local hero and Cork hurler Michael Cahalane for paying us a visit on Friday – hope you didn’t catch a cold Mike!

Finally, in the week that’s in it, it would be remiss of me not to wish Luke and Mike all the best on Sunday. They are two exemplary young sportsmen and we hope the ball hops their way on Sunday.

Thanks to Cúl Camp co-ordinator Danny Murphy for organising a superb event, report and photos.
