24 October, 2018

Barryroe 4-04 Argideen Rangers 3-04

Barryroe Under 12s rounded off their season on a positive note with a victory over neighbours Timoleague in this exciting final of the runners up shield competition. After making a bright start Barryroe led at half-time by 2-04 to 1-02. Playing against the breeze in the second half Barryroe had to dig deep to withstand strong finish from Timoleague and hold out for a well-deserved win. Barryroe had stand out performances from goalie Ted O’Sullivan, backs George Russell & Zac Farrell and forwards Dylan Kelly & Alphie Walsh. Afterwards, treasurer of Rebel Og West Facthna McCarthy presented the trophy to worthy Barryroe captain Daniel Moloney. Well done to both teams for producing an entertaining and skilful game of football and a word of thanks to referee Connie Murphy (Kilmeen) for his exemplary handling of the game.

Team: Ted O’Sullivan, George Russell, Michael O’Donovan, Ben O’Dwyer, Zac Farrell (1-1), Daniel Moloney (capt.), Colm Kirby, Donnacha Coakley, Luke Murphy (2-2), Sean Flynn, Killian Kirby (0-1), Dylan Kelly, Alphie Walsh (1-0), Aaron Fleming, Se Gannon. Subs: Kelan Casey, Mike Collins, Jamie Collins, Cillian Coakley, Conrad Murphy.

After the game, the fun continued for the U12 group who, after taking a celebratory tour of the parish, headed to Kinsale for a game of Footgolf as a reward for their efforts during a long season. It was a fitting end to a memorable day as the sun shone and a great time was had by all.

Thanks to Danny for pics and report.
