U12s win hurling tournament

21 July, 2019

With the weather conditions ideal and four evenly matched teams ready for action a great day’s hurling ensued at Saturday’s U12 hurling tournament in Barryroe. As the results indicate, there was very little to choose between all four sides during the group stages with Clonakilty and Barryroe qualifying for the final. The final was well contested between two gallant, sporting and no doubt exhausted teams with the home side edging it at the long whistle. A word of thanks to referees Michael O’Mahony and Stephen Murphy for their excellent officiating of the games and to St. James, Ballinora and Clonakilty for taking part. Hopefully all the players enjoyed the experience and we wish them well for the rest of the season. Barryroe panel and scorers for the four games: Aaron Fleming, Sean Flynn, Michael O’Donovan, Padraig Whelton, Travis O’Sullivan, Mike Collins (0-3), Kelan Casey, Luke Murphy (2-9, 1-3 frees, 0-3 65s), Jamie Collins (1-5), Adam Sexton, Dylan Kelly, Ian Whelton (1-0), David James Hitz, Dermot Dineen (1-4), Lorcan Hayes, Cillian Coakley, Conrad Murphy (4-3), Riley O’Donovan.
