Ireland Lights Up

31 December, 2019

Do you want to get moving and active this New Year, but you have nowhere to go? Do you find it hard to find a safe well-lit area to go for a walk during the dark winter months? Well, Barryroe GAA & Camogie Club has the answer!

We're coming on board with the RTÉ show Operation Transformation and the GAA for Ireland Lights Up. Every Thursday evening commencing on the 9th January through to the 26th February we invite you to come and walk with us at the track in Páirc Uí Mhurchú where the floodlights will be switched on from 7pm to 8pm. The aim is to make exercise more accessible on the dark winter nights and to offer our local community an opportunity to get together and socialise in a healthy way. Walking is proven to benefit both our physical and mental health. Over 270 clubs participated in Ireland Lights Up in 2019, with a total of 65,000 walkers getting out during the initiative.

We want everyone to come and join for Ireland Lights Up 2020! This is a free event open to everyone.
