Ibane U16s lose in extra time

Ibane Gaels 1-15 Clonakilty 2-18 [AET]

The under 16 footballers of Ibane Gaels and Clonakilty played out an evenly contested match at Páirc Uí Mhurchú on Sunday morning last. Clonakilty playing with the breeze at their backs raced into an early lead of seven points after twenty minutes. Ibane improved and with a goal from Luke McCarthy they reduced the deficit to three points at half-time 0-10 to 1-04. 

The second half was keenly contested with some great scores from both sides. A sublime point from Diarmuid McCarthy levelled the match on the stroke of full time (F.T. score 1-13 to 0-16). At half time in extra time Clonakilty led by a point, with time almost up and three points between the teams the Ibane boys tried their level best to score an equaliser, however, it was Clonakilty under great pressure who broke up field to score the decisive goal which enabled them to run out winners by six points.
