28 October, 2020

Fr. John Collins photographed as part of the first St. Finbarrs Farranferris team to win the Dr. Croke Cup for Secondary Schools Senior Hurling as they defeated the old Patrician College, Ballyfin from Co. Laois (which has now been converted into the luxury Irish 19th century house). The match was played at Croke Park on the 5th of May 1963 as a curtain raiser to the Waterford and Tipperary National Hurling League Final. The final score line in the Dr. Croke Cup Final was St. Finbarrs Farranferris 4-08 to 3-04 for Patrician College, Ballyfin.
