Killian Lawton Remembered

24 June, 2022

Friday the 24th June saw the Lawton Family, their extended family and club members gather at the club dressing rooms for a poignant presentation of a book on Killian Lawton's playing career. Vice Chairperson, Sean Barry spoke in glowing terms of the Lawton Family and their contribution to the GAA club. Sean thanked Donal Holland who was the driving force in the formulation of this book and who was ably assisted by Liam Murphy, Brendan Coleman and Rosarie Holland. The finished article is a testament to their efforts and diligence and the club thank them for their time. Donal Holland and Liam Murphy both outlined Killian's playing career in both the blue of Barryroe and Ibane Gaels. Pat and Nora Lawton both thanked the wider community for their generous contributions to the various Marymount fundraisers which todate total nearly €40k! An astonishing amount for a great cause.

Anyone intertesed in obtaining a copy of the book can contact Richard Murphy or Donal Holland.

Foreword by Risteaird O Murchu, Runai Barra Rua

On 28th July 2021, Barryroe GAA Club lost a true clubman in the prime of his life at the young age of 24. Killian Lawton of Donomore, from a staunch GAA family, is sadly missed by all who knew him. A quiet young man with an infectious smile who donned the jerseys of Barryroe and Ibane Gaels with the utmost pride right up to his departure. Also a true Cork supporter who travelled to many an intercounty game to follow his beloved "Rebels".

This book celebrates the memories of Killian's playing career all the way through the underage ranks and on the adult level. We dedicate this compilation to Pat, Kay, Nora, Padraig, Eimear and Barry and the extended Lawton family. Also to his friends and team mates who played at his side throughout his career.

"Life brings tears, smiles and memories. The tears dry, the smiles fade but memories last forever."
