New Lifeboat arrives Sunday @ 1:45pm

19 January, 2023

The Courtmacsherry new Shannon Class RNLI all-weather Lifeboat “Val Adnams” has now been confirmed for arrival into Courtmacsherry on next Sunday Jan 22nd at 13.45 (1.45pm). While all were disappointed that the arrival last weekend had to be postponed,  all are welcome to our Village this Sunday to welcome the 11th Lifeboat to be stationed in Courtmacsherry since the foundation of the Station in 1825. A flotilla of local boats plus the existing Trent Class Lifeboat will lead the “Val Adnams” up the harbour at 1.45pm. All at the Station fondly remember some previous Lifeboat arrivals. The “Helen Wycherley” in 1969, the “Hope Roberts” in 1987, the “Arthur & Blanch Harris” in 1993 and the “Frederick Storey Cockburn” in 1995. Of significance is that former Coxswain Diarmuid O Mahony, currently a fundraising member, served as a crewperson on the last six Lifeboats that were stationed in Courtmacsherry, since he had his first Lifeboat callout in Nov 1962.
