Scór na Bpaistí 2023

12 February, 2023

On Sunday evening last members of Barryroe GAA took part in the West Carbery semi-finals of Scór na bpaistí which was held in Ballydehob. A great evening was had by one and all with the young members of Barryroe National School taking part in four of the eight events in Scór na bpaistí that cover all aspects of Irish culture.

To begin the evening the team competed in the (Tráth na gCeist) table quiz and was represented by the Páraic Coakley, J.J. O Flynn and brothers Sean and Michael O'Connor.

Páraic Coakley was then up in the (Amhránaíocht Aonair) solo singing in which he sang a spirited version of The Fields of Athenry. In the individual instrument solo, Daniel Morse showed promise by stepping up with his banjo and belting out a lively polka.

This was followed by the (Bailéad Ghrúpa) ballad group represented by J.J Flynn, Rían O Sullivan, Daniel Morse, Páraic Coakley and Liam Fleming. They again gave a great effort performing 2 lively songs and the audience really appreciated their animated performances.

Barryroe GAA club would like to take this opportunity in thanking both the young up and coming members and the parents for their time and efforts to make Scór na bpaistí a great success. The club would also like to acknowledge the help and support of Barryroe National School, Anne Marie O'Brien and Evelyn Fleming for their encouragement amongst these up and coming stars.
