Under 10 Camogie team in Ballinhassig Blitz.

01 September, 2013

On Saturday the Under 10 camogie girls travelled to Ballinhassig to
take part in the well organised annual Declan Crowley Blitz.  This
annual event goes from strength to strength and this year was no
different.  A total of 13 teams are invited each year and Barryroe are
one of the lucky ones.   The blitz kicked off on time at 10.30 and
Barryroes first game was against Eire Og, who proved to be too strong
for us.  Our second game was against Ballincollig, this was a more even
match with Barryroe coming out on top. score 2goals to 1 point.  Goals
scored by Nicole Sweetnam & Lauren Tobin. With a short break to catch a
bite to eat, our next game was against Valley Rovers.  This was a very
exciting game however Valley Rovers came out the winners.  They went on
to win the perpetual trophy.
We were then drawn against Glen Rovers in the semi final of the Plate
competition. Barryroe did well to hold the cork girls but they proved
too strong .  However, we made great efforts to score and were unlucky
that a few more didn't hit the back of the net especially from Eimear
Sheehy. however a goal by Cliona O'Brien showed just how much our girls
have come on since the beginning of the season.  Everyone from the
backs to the forwards and goalie were rotated throughout each game and
with each change the girls rose to the challenge without the bat of an
eyelid.
Treated to some well earned hot food at the end of our matches we left
Ballinhassig content in the knowledge that we played our best and
hoping we will be back again next year.
