O'Duffy Cup coming to Barryroe Plus greeting from over seas+Birth of a website.

05 January, 2015

The Cup will be in Grange about 9, (Barryroe time), and hopefully we might also get to meet some other members of that great team.

Jennefer shakes hands with Cork team mate Breige Corkery after her last game for Barryroe. Who would have thought then, that they would both be winning All-Ireland medals, a few months later.

End of an era.

=============================================================

We asked that those living away, might like to send Season's Greeting for the time of year that's in it.

 A couple of people responded so we are passing on their greetings.

John Joe Fleming left Butlerstown over 50 years ago, but we see him a couple of times a year as he comes back to his house in Cool Bawn regularly, so greeting there from Boston.

John McCarthy from Lislevane, (son of Donie The Post), sends greeting from New South Wales to all in Barryroe.

Timmy Hurley, (Cuckoo Hill), writes,

Up Barryroe, hope all is well Dave, enjoy looking at the site and the getting the news from back home,I wouldn't know where to spend 10 grand but can think of a few things.cold here in Boston this week, Hello to all.
Timmy former great.

Hard to believe Timmy is gone nearly thirty years I reckon and as you will notice the term "Former Great" has really caught on.

Timmy Hurley and wife Liz almost blown away when they called to the pitch on their last visit home.

I guess I'd better explain where "former Greats" came from, and also where our web site came from.

This is the Old Christians Rugby Club website, Click here.

Look familiar ???

It's not as up to date as it should be , but check out the top news story which I did on Sunday. You need to know these "Former Greats"  to get the full effect.

I also covered a Munster Junior League Game on Sunday, (click here). so you can see exactly where and how the Barryroe site came about.
