Night at the Dog Track a great success

18 April, 2015

Firstly, we would like to say a huge thank you to our many sponsors, who made the whole night possible.

See list below.

There was also a booklet given out to everyone, listing all the sponsors.

The front desk.

The amount of effort, (all player driven), that goes into organising an event like this is incredible.

They are still talking, must be serious stuff.

Kay Lawton, geraldine Cotter and Ireneaus Maloney enjoy themselves in Curraheen Park.

I've seen bookies with smaller bags that the one on the table.

Chairman Sean De Barra drawing the raffle tickets, which Jason and Mike seem to find very funny.

Sean Presents the 500 Euro cheque to Carolyn Kirby as Lucy, Darragh, Colm and dad Brian look on. Darragh also informed us that he is three.

It was a good night for the extended Kirby Clan, with Kieran Kirby,(Ballinhassig), winning a hamper.  Brendan O'Sullivan was another hamper winner while Mark Kirby, (Barryscove), Johnnie O'Donovan, Collett Walse and Michael Cox, (Courtmac), were other winners.

All smiles. This was taken before Johnnie's dog finished 6th in his race.

All the "runners" before the race.

There was much controversy during the inter clubs, were there illegal runners ? who had a false start ?, was Kevin pushed or did he just collapse ?, and was the race really won by a sneeky giant rabbit from Lislevane. (The rabbits in Lislevane are fierce cute).

We have the video and will be studying it closely before putting it on the web.

Future Camogie stars, Msess O'Riordan/ Tobin/ O'Sullivan and Tobin at the Track.

I think we'll just pretend not to know this crew.

The winning  Madden/Crowley/Scanell/Sheehy team receive their trophy.

The race is now subject to an objection, (or two, or three), and the video is now with the Lawyers.

Dennis Harrington (Barryroe Co-op) and Norman Fleming and Vincent O'Donovan, (Blue Broe), who along with O'Brien Bros Plant and Civil Contractors sponsored  the race, present the trophy to James Carroll owner of the winning dog. Mike stood in for the picture. You might notice, even the greyhound is a "Poser" in the photo.
