Busy Week-end on the way.

28 April, 2015

We travel to Ballinacarraiga on Saturday night, to take on Bantry Blues in the first round of the West Cork Junior Football Championship. We may be underdogs here, but with a bit of vocal support, we are in with a chance.

Last season saw a big improvement in our attitude to football, so hopefully we can continue in that vein. We got a great crowd to the Greyhound Track recently, so more of the same is needed. The game starts at 7 p.m.

Start of last year's game v Bandon.

======================================================================================================

Two Lifeboats, 100 year apart pass the Old Coastguard Station in the Village, as the crew train in preparation for next Sundays reenactment of the Lusitania Lifeboat Callout of 1915. The Gaa Pitch will host the Coastguard Helicopter on next Sat at 3pm where this amazing Rescue Machine will be available for all to see. There is a great crossover of members of the Seven Heads Coastguard and Barryroe Gaa Mentors. Senior Officer of the Seven Heads Coastguard is local award winning farmer, John J McCarthy who is also one of the Underage Trainers, while former Club player Gerard Flynn, brother of Underage Chairperson Richard O Flynn is one of the Senior Officials in the Irish Coastguard Organisation. The official opening of the Lusitania Commemorative events takes place on the Pierhead in Courtmacsherry on this coming Friday at 8pm with Minister Simon Coveney. All are welcome.

Below is the Brochure for the week-end.

We also expect to see the re-opening of the Lifeboat Inn and the Pier House bars at the week-end, (for thosw that are interested in that sort of thing).
