Flying Nuns and more Under 10 pics.

19 May, 2015

For those that may not know, Courtmac's Sr. Jane Murphy of Good Shepherd Services Cork(GSS) is about to undertake a fundraising event on 22nd May2015 involving a motorcycle ride and a 10,000ft Skydive to raise funds for GSS Youth clubs.

Good Shepherd Services(GSS) operate two young women’s activity youth clubs in Cork City. GSS offer young women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness the opportunity to develop the creative, social, physical and emotional skills required for healthy living. GSS provide space and a relaxed atmosphere for young women to engage with one another and learn social and life skills in a healthy risk free environment.

Since its inception by Sr. Jane in May 2000 GSS has seen the youth clubs grow in number and offer a myriad of activities including arts and crafts, therapeutic massage, wellness, nail art, make up classes, hairdressing, cooking, healthy eating, as well as engaging in activities outside the centre such as cinema, walking, bowling, gardening, swimming and excursions.

The funds raised through this event will contribute towards GSS Youth clubs.

Now a 10,000 foot Sky dive I can take or leave, (in fact I will leave it,) but have a good look at the bike lads and lassies, it's a beauty. A bit faster than my never forgotten Honda 175.

Meanwhile Paul Hayes reports,

We had two Under 10 teams entered in yesterday's hurling blitz in Kilmeen. Each team played in 3 matches including against the hosts, photos attached.
A new feature of this years blitzes is the practice of a particular skill at half time, and this week we practiced lifting and striking the ball with the weaker side, either left or right hand. We were very competitive in all the games but started to run out of steam towards the end of the 3rd game so we'll have to concentrate on fitness levels at training in the weeks ahead! Last months Easter Eggs must have still been in their systems!

Free time.

Very importent to shake hands.

A strong but well behaved squad in Kilmeen.

I spoke too soon..

A couple of extra pictures from half time in Ballygarvan.

Getting stuck in.
