Barryroe lose intermediate status

27 September, 2015

It was tough, but I suppose it had been  coming for a while. By my reckoning, 7/8 of the starting team, would be well into their thirties and more importently,  have a lot of miles on the clock and, unless you are the Cork Ladies football team, you can only go to the well so often.

We are now back in Junior hurling, but hopefully everyone will give it one more year.  The older lads have giving everything for a long time now, but  they will still be needed next year.  There are a couple of players coming through, but not enough at the moment. It must also be said that alot of the younger lads are still a bit on the light side.  It was clear today, that Barryroe, did not carry a huge goal threat. Barryroe badly need a couple of forwards who can drop the shoulder and drive for goal, basically Rugby type players. Everyone in Kilkenny can do it, indeed they specialise in it,  you will not be blown for taking 6/7 steps,  so a player who can "attack the soft shoulder", is invaluable, as they will create goals. That however is for another day, so thanks for everything lads.

The crucial just before half time, a killer blow.

A scramble in the Barryroe goalmouth.
