09 October, 2015

Congratulations to Isla, (nee Dineen),  and Ger Coleman on the birth of a hurler, Shane.

Is the school extention paid for yet ? because the way things are going, we'll have to expand again.

Paul Hayes writes,

Last weekends end of season football blitz took place in Clon. Two teams of Under 8's and one team of Under 10's travelled West in the brilliant sunshine of last Saturday morning to join over 700 other competitors from across West Cork. The occasion was the end of season Monster Football Blitz and every pitch at the Ahamilla complex was packed with youngsters, wearing all the colours of the rainbow! The initial clatter and noise settled down with the commencement of the games. Both Under 8 teams played games against Newcestown and Clonakilty, and the other games were played against Sam Maguires and Castlehaven. The trainers and parents on the sideline were delighted with the progress made over the last few months. Players picked the ball up off the ground properly, caught high balls, short kick passed, scored some great points and goals and especially impressive was the quality of hand passing between players. After the final whistle, the players were presented with medals by their trainers who congratulated them on a fine season. Cork and Castlehaven ace Brian Hurley was on hand to greet players and took time to stand in with all the panels for a group photo. Attention now turns to the small ball next weekend with a major hurling blitz taking place in Bandon.
