Barryroe travelled to Kealkil to take on Clon/St.Colms in first round u18 13 A-side league. With a quick run around the parish to furnish the team, Batt and William headed off with 13 players.

Claire Sexton opened the score with a point from a free with another soaring over the bar from Clair Tyndall. First half score Barryroe 0-2 v Clon/St.Colms 1-0

Clon/St.Colms came out fighting after half time to leave Barryroe trailing by 7 points at one stage. But Barryroe were not to be beaten and staged a great comeback with scores from Claire Sexton 2-2, Claire Tyndall 1-0, Emma Deasy 0-1, and Rachel Sheehy 0-1.

Final score Barryroe 3-6 v Clon/St.Colms 3-1

Barryroe 1-4        v        Newcestown 3-6 (U16 Away 22/4/13)

Sally Smith opened the score with a fantastic goal from a sideline cut. Caroline McCarthy scored a point from a free.Rebecca McCarthy playing full back on the night saved a fantastic goal to deny Newcestown another quick goal. Newcestown fought back and scored 2-2 in first half. Caroline McCarthy getting a second point before half time.
The second half was just as exciting, unfortunally Barryroe could not break down the Newcestown back line. Marie Dineen and Caroline McCarthy scoring a point a piece in second half.
Final Score  Barryroe 1-4 v Newcestown 3-6.

Barryroe U16 Camogie League got off to winning ways with Kate Whelton opening the score against Clonakilty/St.Colms with a superb goal followed in quick succession with another goal and point. Not to be out done her sister Hannah topped over 2 points followed by another point by Rachel Sheehy.
Rebecca McCarthy opened her scoring year with a point, to take her new position, from being 2 years as outstanding goalie for Barryroe, to Full Forward.
Again Kate Whelton went through but was this time beaten by the goalkeeper with a great save and put over the bar. Rebecca McCarthy continued her dominance with another point. Kate again showing true style with another hoal. Closing the first half with an excellent point by Caroline McCarthy. Score 3-8 v 0-0
Clonakilty/St.Colms came out on fire and scored 2 points to try and make a comeback, but their scoring was short lived as Marie Dineen soloed through with fantastic goal,followed by another from Kate Whelton.
Our backs held their ground with Claire Kelly, Mari-Claire Whelton and Hetty O'Brien refusing to let Clon/St.Colms through and long puck-outs from Meabhdh Sexton proved the beating of our rivals. Clon/St.Colms secured one final point as referee Michael O'Mahony blew for full time.
Next u16 match v Newcestown in Newcestown friday 19th at 6.30pm.

Report for U12 Go Game League game Thursday 01 August @ 6:15pm in Barryroe
Barryroe 4-2 Enniskeane 2-0

Ground conditions were not too bad considering the heavy rainfall that day. Everyone played well, great hand passing and team work from all players. Great dribbling skills were displayed by Jessica McCarthy. Barryroe got off to a great start with Therese McCarthy scoring a lovely point from play. Then Aideen O’Riordan followed that with a well timed goal. This was followed by another point from Therese. Barryroe were hungry for more and another two fine goals were scored but this time by Ciara O’Sullivan and Roisin Dullea. Barryroe were definitely in scoring form and another sweet goal came from Holly Burke Hanly. Before the final whistle blew, the two final scores were goals from Enniskeane.

This was the last of the three (3) compulsory U12 Go Game blitzes for 2013. It was an extremely warm day. All the girls played very well and made every effort to win the ball considering the sweltering hot conditions. Again the ethos of the blitz was participation, no winners, no losers and therefore no scores were officially recorded. Clon provided refreshments after the games.

Weather conditions for the first 20 minutes were damp/drizzly and this made picking up the ball difficult. It suited Barryroe very much when it dried up as Megan Murphy scored a super fast goal from the half forward line and the only other score of the match again came from Barryroe but this time from Maeve Whelton also scoring a great goal from the half forward line. Both Naomi Murphy and Therese McCarthy had a great game as keepers.

U12 Go Game League game, Thursday 20 June @ 7pm in Kilmeen
Result: Kilbree 2-0 Barryroe 2-1

This was a very exciting and a very close match. Each of the girls gave it their all. Kilbree opened the scoring with a goal. Then Barryroe’s Ciara O’Sullivan made the most of an opportunity and scored a lovely point. Ciara was in scoring form and went on to score two great goals, the second one aided by Jessica McCarthy and the final score of the match, a goal, came from Kilbree, Barryroe winning by just a point. We were all on tender hooks until the final whistle blew. Jessica McCarthy had a fantastic game in the half forward line, almost scoring on two occasions as did Roisin Dullea in mid field.

Report for U13 Carbery League game Tuesday 18 June @ 7pm in Ballinascarthy
Result: Ballinascarthy 0-0 Barryroe 1-4

This is a league where all the players are U12 with the exception of the goalie who can be a 13 year old. Go Game rules applies, i.e. no kicking, no soloing.

It was a beautiful evening for a match, very calm and warm. Everyone put in a great team effort against our opponents, Ballinascarthy.

Roisin Dullea opened the first half with a point. The second score came from Ciara O’Sullivan, a goal. In the second half, Roisin scored a beautiful point, followed by another very accurate point. It was Ciara again that was to get the final score of the match, a lovely point. Clodagh Maloney did a great job in goal & made a great save in the first half. Sarah O’Regan also had a great game in the half forward line.

Saturday 15 June @ 6:15pm in Barryroe

Our U12s entertained us with a great display of camogie skills. The first and second scores came from Ciara O’Sullivan, a fabulous goal and a point and the second lot of scores came from Roisin Dullea again, another very accurate goal and point. Clon then scored a goal but Megan Murphy was watching her opportunity and went on to score a super goal for Barryroe to ensure a win. Also, Holly Burke Hanly put in great performance and Therese McCarthy did a great job as Keeper.

Report for 2nd U12 Camogie Go Game Blitz for 2013 – Saturday 08 June @ 10:30am in Kilbrittain

This was the second of the three compulsory blitzes for 2013, this time hosted by Kilbrittain/Timoleague. Barryroe played four (4) matches vs Newcestown, Kilbrittain/Timoleague, Kilbree & Clonakilty. Again, to mention that the ethos for the blitz day is participation, rotation, no kicking, no soloing, no scores recorded, no winners, no losers. The girls made a great effort in all their games played and were well tired when it was all over but it was a very enjoyable day. The weather was glorious. Kilbrittain provided refreshments after the games in the local community hall.

Report for 5th match for 2013 U12 Camogie Go Game League –

Thursday 06 June @ 6:30pm in Enniskeane

 

Result: Enniskeane 6-0 Barryroe 6-0

All the U12s played brilliantly, demonstrating great skill & speed. Ciara O’Sullivan opened the 1st third with a goal from the half forward line but Enniskeane responded with a goal also. Some excellent defending came from Roisin Dullea & Therese McCarthy in the 1st third. Andrea Tobin opened the 2nd third with a goal, followed by another goal but this time helped by Megan Murphy. Megan then scored a super goal. Enniskeane came back with a goal but Andrea was in the ready waiting to score and went onto score another goal! In the 3rd third, Andrea scored a goal again but this time from the half forward line. Enniskeane started to creep back and went onto score four goals in succession. All three goal keepers had some great saves and puck outs.

In the first third, Barryroe got off to a great start with the first goal coming from Megan Murphy but aided by Jessica McCarthy. The second goal came from Jessica with great speed. Again, a third goal from Jessica but this time aided by Megan. Naomi Murphy went on the score the fourth goal which was quickly followed by a lovely point from Andrea Tobin. The first third finished with yet another goal, from Megan. Both the 2nd third and 3rd third remained scoreless.

Barryroe played three (3) matches vs Newcestown, Kilbrittain/Timoleague & Kilbree with ten (10) teams participating in all. The ethos for the blitz day is participation, rotation, no kicking, no soloing, no scores recorded, no winners, no losers. All the girls played really well and demonstrated all the skills they have learned at training. The weather was super and the blitz was very well organized and the games began & ended on time. Enniskeane provided refreshments after the games.

Monday 13 May @ 7:30pm in Barryroe
Result: Barryroe 5-0 Newcestown 2-1
Playing conditions were great, it was actually dry and calm. Roisin Dullea got Barryroe’s opening scoring in the first third with a lovely goal from midfield. Newcestown responded with another goal. Ciara O’Sullivan made room for herself and aimed well by scoring another goal for Barryroe. Chloe Collins was ready in waiting to score another goal before the first third was over. The second third remained scoreless. Newcestown opened the third third with a point but it could have been a goal only for Naomi Murphy’s fabulous goal keeping. Newcestown went on again to score another goal but Barryroe responded with two more goals coming from Aideen O’Riordan. There was some great defending from Barryroe in the third third, in particular, from Jessica McCarthy. Again, all played very well.

No Kicking, No Soloing with Rotation Rules Apply
Playing conditions were not good as it rained throughout the match. In the first third, Barryroe were taken by surprise by Clonakilty with their first goal, a hand tap in. The second third remained scoreless, very good defending on Barryroe’s part. Clon scored their two other goals in the third third. Barryroe did play well even though it was not reflected in the final result. Barryroe made every effort to score particularly in the third third but it just did not happen for them. Their next scheduled game is home to Newcestown.

Naomi Murphy opened the second third by scoring a beautiful goal and Roisin Dullea went on to score a fine Goal and a super point. The only scores in the third third came from Kilbree, 2 points. Barryroe played well on their first U12 outing. Their next U12 game is away to Clonakilty
