Ibane Gaels 2-07 Urhan 1-04

Ibane Gaels overcame the challenge of Urhan  in this 1st round U21B Football championship game played in Newcestown. Conditions were naturally heavy after all the recent rain but Ibane got a dream start when after 10 minutes they led by 2-02 to 0-00 courtesy of 2 points by Jack Cahalane and 2 goals by John Whelton . Urhan got on the scoreboard  with 2 points,  however 2 further points from Ibane restored their 8 point lead and were looking good heading into half time then the concession of a very soft goal left the score at half time 2-04 to 1-02 in favour of Ibane.

The 2nd half was dominated by Ibane but they failed to put the scores on the board which meant Urhan were always in the game but  never threatened the goal which would have ignited their challenge thanks to good Ibane defending.   Points by Rob Nolan and Eoin Lawton saw Ibane winners on a score of 2-07 to 1-04. Ibane were delighted with the win but know they will have to improve a lot to beat Kilmeen in the next round which is fixed for next weekend.
