Barryroe 0-12              Ol. Plunketts  1-13

Although defeat, was our eventual lot here, this was a promising first half display after our poor efforts at football in recent times.

Throwing young players in at the deep end, can be a two edged sword, and so it proved tonight. Plunketts opened the scoring after a minute, but points from Kevin  O' Driscoll, Mark Crowley and Kieran Hurley, put us 3-1 up after 11 minutes. The visitors got a point, but Kevin O'Driscoll, Dennis Harrington and Tadgh Harrington had points and Mark Crowley cancelled out a late Plunkett's point to leave Barryroe ahead by 7-3 at the break.

It would be fair to say, that the half time break came at the wrong time for us as we were well on top and looking good for the win.

On the resumption, we showed our naivety. We had a couple of early point chances, which might have killed any Plunkett momentum before it started and even as the visitors added a couple of early points, we again spurned a couple of point oppertunities.  This would prove to be the losing of the game.

Now playing more direct football, Plunketts rattled off six points on the trot, before Kieran Hurley had our first score of the second half after 18 minutes. Within a minute however, a mishit Plunkett's free struck the woodwork and the rebound was punched to the net before we could re-act.

Kieran Griffin and Mark Crowley had points to make it 10 pts to 1-09. A Plunkett's point was answered by Mark Crowley and with our only goal chance of the game, Clive Cahalane's shot was pushed over the bar by the visiting keeper. A Plunkett's point put them two ahead, but a couple of blood rushes cost us a point or two and the visitors added two more points to run out winners by four points.

It's probably fair to say that a more experienced team, would have closed out the game after the break, but it was good to see the team play with effort and committment. The rest will come.

Tadgh Harrington, Edward Dwyer, Mark Crowley, showed up well, while Kevin O'Driscoll had a fine first half.
