Tuesday 27 May 2014 Sciath Na Scol Hurling - Final

Pairc Uí Chaoimh, 13:00PM

This game started at 100 miles an hour. Within two minutes, Ryan O'Donovan had found the net, Conn Dineen then pointed a free, Kilbrittain had a goal and Conn pointed another free.  So seven minutes gone and we led by 1-2 to 1-0.

Florence Wycherly then pulled off a great save, (the first of many), before Kilbrittain hit the front with a goal and a point in quick succession. Cathal Sheehy steadied the ship with a long range point, but two more Kilbrittain points sandwiching one from Conn Dineen, left us 2-3 to 1-4 behind at the break. Things were looking a bit dodgy at this stage, as the bigger Kilbrittain players were having an effect.

With the wind at our backs however, we stormed into the game. Within three minutes of the re-start, goals from Jack Maloney and Adam McSweeney, plus a Ryan O'Donovan point, saw Barryroe lead by 3-5 to 2-3. Cathal Sheehy and John Sheehy added points, before Kilbrittain's first score of the second half, saw us lead by 3-7 to 2-4 with ten minutes gone in the second period.

Kilbrittain cut the defecit with a point on 14 minutes, but it proved to be their last score of the game, while Adam McSweeney and Ryan O'Donovan both pointed the leave the final score at 3-9 to 2-5 in our favour.

This was a real team performance, with the whirlwind start to the second half making all the differance.
