Sunday 24 Aug 2014U16 Camogie - Championship

Barryroe, 19:00PM

Barryroe Under 16 Camogie team advanced to the semi-final of the Championship with a good win over Inniscarra on Sunday night. The rain cleared before the game and the fog rolled in, but thankfully that cleared early in the first half.

We started well with a point  from Rachel Sheehy, Ciara O'Sullivan added a goal and Hannah Whelton had a point. Inniscarra opened their account with a goal but on fifteen minutes, Barryroe forced the ball to the Inniscarra net, with Niamh O'Sullivan credited with the final touch. Rachel Sheehy cancelled out a point for the Mid Cork side, Inniscarra had the next two points, but Barryroe finished the half well, Rachel adding a point and just before the half time whistle, Therese McCarthy had our third goal to leave the half time score at 3-04 to 1-03 in our favour.

We seemed to up a gear after half time although keeper Caroline McCarthy had to make a good save early on. After a point for Inniscarra, we began to rack up the scores. Kate Whelton had a point, a Rachel Sheehy free found it's way to the net. Aideen O'Riordan had a goal and Ciara O'Sullivan and Rachel Sheehy had points before Inniscarra had their final score of the game, a goal.

There was still time for Ciara O'Sullivan and Rachel Sheehy to add points as we ran out comfortyable winners on a scoreline of 5-09 to 2-04.

While it was a good all round team performance, special mention must go to Róisín Dullea and Ciara O'Sullivan, two of the younger team members.
