On a blustery windy monday evening Barryroe Camogie set out to play Clonakilty/St.Colms in their second game of the league. Conditions were hurrendous but both teams gave it their all, with Barryroe against the wind in the first half scoring was low. Clon/St.Colms opened the score and Barryroe didn't respond until after the second point. Opening the Barryroe score was Hannah Whelton with a point followed by a Kate Whelton goal.This was to finish the first half Barryroe 1-1 v Clon/St.Colms 0-2.
The second half weather disimproved but Caroline McCarthy took her first free of the night and converted a point, with the wind behind us Barryroe got into their rhythm and great play from Rachel Sheehy to Marie Dineen to Kate Whelton to Caroline McCarthy who scored a fantastic point.1-3. Hannah followed up with another point. Great defense work from Meabhdh Sexton, Kate Dullea, Marie-Claire Whelton, Niamh Whelton and Hetty O'Brien to deny Clon/St.Colms any more scoring in the game. Marie Dineen followed through with a quality goal followed by points from Caroline McCarthy and Hannah Whelton. Marie Dineen continued on her scoring with another fantastic goal with great work from half backs Sally Smith, Rebecca McCarthy and Aisling Sheehy. Everyone working their best in such harsh conditions made this win possible. Ciara Whelton was unlucky on occasions to convert a score, Niamh O'Sullivan and sub Aoife Kearney made a great impact when called upon to upset the Clon/St.Colm defense, as did Lauren Deasy and continue the play Barryroes' way. Hannah Whelton scored another point and Caroline McCarthy scored another goal with no response from Clon/St.Colms Barryroe scored a final goal to complete the game on a score of 5-8 v 0-2.
