Barryroe NOTE CHANGE, 18:45PM

Report for U16 Camogie County League game Wednesday 08 April @ 6:45pm in Barryroe

Trainer: Batt Whelton

Result: Barryroe 0-4 Ballinascarthy 5-7

In what were ideal weather conditions for this match, Barryroe faced their toughest opponents so far in the league.

Ballinascarthy opened the scoring with a goal but Barryroe’s Kate Whelton responded with a point set up by Clodagh Moloney. Bal pointed again. Then when Ciara O’Sullivan got possession of the ball, she quickly sent it over the bar. Bal went on a scoring spree getting 3 goals and 3 points without reply. Barryroe were now under pressure but our defense did all they could to restrict Bal and Therese McCarthy made two great saves in a row, and Katie McCarthy in the full back line & Roisin Dullea in the half back line did some great defending making good relieving clearances. Next Andrea Tobin won possession and passed the ball into Ciara who pointed well and she followed this with another point. Half time score was Barryroe 0-4 to Ballinscarthy 4-4.

All the girls put in a huge effort in the second half to reduce the deficit further and were unlucky not to score. There was strong play from Maeve Whelton, Naomi Murphy & Niamh Whelton in this half. Bal added a further goal and three points to their tally to run out comfortable winners on the night.
