Townslands Classic 2016
The 17th annual Barryroe Townlands Golf classic was again held in Fota on Tuesday and new winners emerged from the amalgamated hamlets of Ballinamona and Lower Abbey.
Fresh from a County U21 success earlier in the year, Captain Norman Fleming masterminded a big win with a powerful display from his talented team. One of Barryroe's most stylish hurler ever, Neil Tobin played superb and was ably assisted by his wife Finola. Their final team member was the former All Ireland Senior Hurling winning Captain Richard Browne who grew up practising his hurling skills up and down the road at Ballincurrig as a young lad. Seen presenting the coveted TS (toilet seat) trophy is last years winning captain Shane O'Donovan.
Runners up this year with another powerful score were the Seven Heads Team of John, Noreen, Patrick and Denis Fleming.
