Munster Council Development Grant

17 January, 2019

The Munster Council development grants were presented to clubs at a function held recently in Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Grant funding on capital expenditure of over €1.6 million was sought by 42 clubs. Grant support to the value of €221,709 was approved in respect of grounds development and facility improvements. Barryroe received a very welcome sum of €20,000 (the 3rd highest grant award in Cork) which has greatly assisted in some early fencing and seeding works for our second pitch. It is hoped in the near future the club will be announcing fundraising plans to convert this new ground into a fully compliant / regulation pitch.

Speaking at the presentation, Cork GAA Development Office Pat Horgan said “ The Munster Council deserve great credit for their strategy and vision regarding the ongoing support for the development of club property in our county” Pat continued by saying “ The clubs of this country deserve tremendous credit for the initiative in providing so many magnificent infrastructural amenities for the promotion and playing of our games in their respective communities. Most important of all, are the number of quality playing fields that have been provided. The total number in the county now being 330 owned by the clubs, which is a brilliant achievement not matched by any other county in the country”.
