Ibane Ladies Football

25 March, 2019

It was another busy week for Ibane Ladies, with both the U14 and Junior teams taking to the field. The U14C team had a convincing win in their first home fixture on Sunday afternoon, and were victorious over St. Colums on a score line of 7-06 to 1-05.

Ibane ladies Junior team took to the pitch for their second match against an experienced Nemo Rangers Team. From the off, the Ibane ladies were up against it but they gave it their all to the very end. Nemo started strongly and had a few scores up but a great team goal scored by Geraldine Collins gave Ibane a lift before half time. Three other close efforts just slipped by with one coming off the wood work. The second half continued in the same vein with Nemo on top. However, two goals one from Denise Foley and another from Karen O'Callaghan kept Ibane in the game. When the final whistle went there were a few tired and sore bodies. Unfortunately, a defeat but a very encouraging performance against a good Nemo team for the fledgling outfit. The final score in that game was Ibane Gaels 3-06 to Nemo Rangers 3-17.

Training for the U6 – U12 girls resumed on Monday March 25th, and will take place weekly on Mondays at 18:30 on the all weather pitch at Arigideen Rangers.  New players are always welcome!

Upcoming fixtures:  Ibane Ladies U14C will play Beara on Sunday 31st March at 1pm, venue Arigideen Rangers.
