U12s Win Cup Semi Final

04 September, 2019

Barryroe 3-06 Newcestown 3-05

Barryroe qualified for the final of the U12 hurling cup with a hard fought win against the home team in Newcestown on Monday night last. Barryroe started brightly with Mike Collins to the fore at centre-back but they failed to convert their early dominance into scores and Newcestown took control in the second quarter to deservedly lead by 2-03 to 0-02 at half-time.

After conceding an early point in the second half Barryroe thundered into the game and after a flurry of scores took the lead with a well taken goal by Lorcan Hayes with 7 minutes left to play. Newcestown goaled from a close-in free with time almost up to level affairs but the boys in blue had the last word converting a late free won by the outstanding Kelan Casey to win by the narrowest of margins.
