Barryroe GAA & Camogie Dinner Dance 2020

Barryroe GAA & Camogie dinner dance took place on Saturday last, January 18th in Fernhill House Hotel, Clonakilty. It was an opportunity for all members of the community to socialise and celebrate the contributions of club members Jessica McCarthy and Ryan O'Donovan who participated with successful Cork All Ireland winning teams during the 2019 season. Richard Flynn was the very able MC for the night and proceedings commenced with Chairpersons Teresa Tobin and Sean De Barra welcoming everyone including distinguished guests, Alan Browne, Cork All Ireland Hurling winner, Carbery Development Officer David White and Courtmacsherry native James Tobin who represented Carbery Camogie.

Noteworthy recipients on the night were the successful camogie minor team of the 2018 season and the famous 1979 football team who were the spark for an unprecedented period of success in early 1980s. Each member of the championship winning team was introduced by their Captain Brendan O'Sullivan. Formalities concluded with a special award to current GAA Club President Vincent Sexton who received the club's first honorary membership for his sterling service to Barryroe GAA.

Over 150 people attended the function with the celebrations carrying on into the early hours.
