Under tens in Newcestown

07 October, 2014

Paul Hayes reports,

Here are a few photos from yesterday mornings trip to Newcestown for a challenge match.
The clouds drifted away in the early morning to leave a beautiful sky and perfect conditions over the Newcestown pitch. Both sides played 16 players aside so that everyone present got a game and both teams gave their all for a full hour of play! The first half belonged to Newcestown who were able to slice through the Barryroe defence until almost half time when the Barryroe lads started to come into the game. The mentors, John Joe, Ger, Donal and Paul held a conclave at half time and moved their warriors into different positions and plotted a second half revival. The players responded well and picked off some lovely scores including points while on the run and some goal mouth scrambled goals, they all count! Newcestown scored only 3 or 4 times in the second half and had enough to hold on for the win in the end. It was a great test for the young lads in blue as their season draws to a close soon, and their second half display in this game in particular was very heartening.

Time for a chat.

Cast a long shadow.

Shake hands.

Letting off steam.
