Puc Fada proceeds to go to the Jamie Wall fund.

29 December, 2014

It was decided beforehand, that the proceeds from the day, would go to the Jamie Wall fund.  (You can read more about Kilbrittain's Jamie here.)

We were blessed with a cold but dry day and nearly thirty teams taking part.

The "Long March" to the start, with Chief steward Timothy keeping order.

A group of competitors before the start.

The rules of the competition, (look closely and you will see we don't waste much in Barryroe).

Some of the early shots defied description, with a Vincent Donovan effort leaving one to doubt if he had ever struck a slioter before in his life.

In the end it was a close run thing with a young team of Eoin Sheehy, Michael Whelton and Ronan Fleming, taking top spot.

It was then back to the Anchor bar, for some warming soup and sandwiches.

John Colgan took the prize for "the most experienced" player on the road. There are rumours that he will be challenged for his title next year.

Slightly blurred shot of the winners, Michael Whelton, Ronan Fleming and Eoin Sheehy, with organisers Billy O'Donovan and Timmy Carroll.

There is a short video of the presentation on our Youtube channel, here.
