Ibane Gaels in Minor Football Final

Ibane Gaels fresh from their great victory in the minor hurling final last week, defeated O’Donovan Rossa at Clonakilty on Friday night last in the semi-final of the minor football championship, setting up a crack at a possible double at minor level.

They await the outcome of the other semi-final involving Pedlar’s Cross and Western Gaels.

Playing with wind assistance, they were ahead 1-5 to 0-3 at half time.In the second half Ibane shook off any rustiness that they had and took the game to their town opponents.

Mark Crowley in the corner forward position was a handful for the Rossa rearguard and with Joe Sheehan, Partick Moloney, Daniel Hurley and Cathal O’Donovan outstanding in defence, the scores came with Daniel O’Driscoll making his presence felt at centre forward.

Ibane finished strongly to leave the final score at 1-12 to 2-3 to book their place in another minor final.
