Sunday 13 Oct 2013U18 Camogie - West Cork Championship

Newcestown (THIS IS THE FINAL ) , 13:00PM

This was a  cracking game of camogie which ended all square and finished in a welter of excitement. We were two points up after four minutes thanks to Caroline McCarthy and Emma Deasy, before Clon/Colms broke down the field forcing Maebhdh Sexton to pull off a point blank save. By the 13th minute Clon/Colms had pulled level only for Caroline Mc Carthy to put us back in front and when Emma Deasy was fouled on 16 minutes, the same player pointed the free.

Two fine points by Hannah Whelton, split by one for Clon/Colms saw us lead by 0-06 to 0-03 at the break. Just before the whistle however, Rachel Sheehy, suffered a shoulder injury and she had to retire.

This unsettled us some what and three minutes into the second half, Clon/Colms scored a goal to level the tie. Twelve minutes in, they went in front for the first time only for Caroline McCarthy to put us back in the lead with two pointed frees.

Late in the game Clon/Colms levelled with a good point, but in a frenzied last two minutes, we had claims for two clear cut frees turned down and we all lived to fight another day.

We would like to wish Rachel Sheedy a speedy return from her injury.
