On Saturday in Newcestown (changed from Bandon due to frozen pitch) Ibane played county champions Kilbrittain in the final of the East Region League. Kilbrittain dominated the early exchanges to lead at half time by 2-07 to 0-03.
A spirited second half performance led by Matthew Lawton & Tiernan McKeown in midfield saw Ibane reduce the deficit to four points with ten minutes remainig. However, Kilbrittain ran out winners on a scoreline of 3-08 to 1-07. This was a good performance against a strong physical Kilbrittain outfit.
Special mention must be made of the mentors of this team who put in huge commitment with U16 & U15 teams during the year since training commenced ten months ago: Danny Murphy, Norman Fleming, Peter Fleming & Diarmuid Lawton
