Saturday 13 Sep 2014U18 Camogie - County Championship

Barryroe, 14:00PM

Heartbreak for our Under 18 camogie players, as a brave comeback just came up short against  a strong Millstreet side. The North Cork team were firm favourites before the start and despite early points from Claire Sexton and Rachel Sheehy the visitors grabbed two early goals   to move into the lead. Claire added a further point before the break, but Millstreet added five more to leave us 2-5 to 0-4 behind at the break.
Things did not look good at this stage, but Barryroe dug in. Rachel added two points and Maebhdh Sexton was forced into a fine save. However a minute later Millsreet grabbed a third goal and at 3-05 to 6 points it looked a lost cause. Hannah Whelton scored a goal, which was sandwiched by two Rachel Sheehy points. Millstreet had a point before Barryroe forced home another goal. Barryroe hit the angle of the crossbar and another shot came back off the post as the visitors added three points to take it back to a four point game.

Kate Dullea charged up the field but ran out of luck. Barryroe came back again and a Claire Sexton goal left just a point  between the sides. Time  ran out however and the final whistle blew.
A great display against a pacey side that were firm favourites and another minute of injury time might have been enough for us.
