Barryroe. GROUP PLAY-OFF, 15:30PM

Summer Cup how are you. It was miserable in Barryroe for this game, as a biting wind blew into the dressing room end, and showers made things even worse.

Barryroe had first use of the wind and the first half proved to be the Denise O'Sullivan show. She rattled off three points in the first seven minutes, Clair Sexton had one and Denise had two more before the visitors got on the board with a point.

Denise struck again on 21 minutes, before finding the back of the net two minutes later and a further Barryroe point was cancelled out by a late Éire Óg score.

We led 1-07 to 2 points at the break, but such was the wind that we wondered if it would be enough.

The game was over however, four minutes into the second half, as Clair Sexton struck two fine goals to ease Barryroe on their way. A point for the visitors left the score at 3-07 to three points after 13 minutes, but Clair and Denise added two more points, before a late rally by the visitors saw them add 1-02 to a Síle Burns point late in the game.

A good display in miserable conditions against an Éire Óg side that was a bit under-strength.

The White sisters and Noreen O'Driscoll were very solid at the back, while up front Denise O'Sullivan and Claire Sexton did most of the damage.

We now meet Sars in the semi-final. We'll be hoping for better weather.
