Barryroe dominated this game from the off and it was a particularly high scoring game. The opening score came from Ciara O’Sullivan. Then Maeve Whelton rattled the back of the net, ably assisted by Kate Whelton. Ciara was on fire and clocked up another 3 points. Maeve scored again, this time with 2 points in quick succession. Roisin Dullea & Clodagh Moloney were creating space well to help set-up these scores. Naomi Murphy & Katie McCarthy were stellar in defense clearing ball. Ciara pointing again. Grace Tobin then sent the ball sailing over the bar to close the first half scoring. Some great catching of the ball by Aoife Kearney in this half. Half time score Barryroe 1-8 to Blackrock 0-0.
Ciara opened the second half with two great points. Blackrock replied with a point but Ciara pointed twice, bringing her tally for the day to 9 points, to complete a fine display. Next Therese McCarthy delivered a great ball into Andrea Tobin who with pace found Kate near the goal and during the scramble for the ball, Saphira Ruprecht and Chloe Collins both tried to win possession but it was Orla Deasy in the end who got the final touch to send the ball to the back of the net. After a fine clearance from Shannon Chapman, Kate burst through the opposition and pointed. She soon got another point. Grace & Aideen O’Riordan completed the scoring each getting a point before the final whistle blew.
