Sunday 27 Sep 2015Intermediate Hurling - Play-off

Brinny, 14:00PM

Barryroe's eight years as an Intermediate club, came to an end at a sunny but windy Brinny on Sunday. With a quicker, but lighter forward line, the Blues started well, Kierán Hurley, winning a free for John O'Donovan to convert and then adding a second himself. Mike O'Brien cancelled out an Aghabullogue one and John O'Donovan and Robbie Kiely had Barryroe leading 5-3 after 12 minutes.

Aghabullogue then came into the game, adding four points to one from Adrian Fleming and John O'Donovan and coming up to the break, scores were level at 7 points a piece.

Just before the whistle, Barryroe conceded a penalty, which was duy converted and we went into the break a goal down.

Immediately after the break, Barryroe conceded a second goal and things looked black. Aghabullogue added two points to leave the Blues behind by 2-09 to 7 points, before Dave OSullivan added a point and sub Clive Cahalan, (who caused problems for the Aghabullogue defence),  got on the break from a long delivery to grab a goal and make it a four point game.

John O'Donovan brough it back to three points, and added two more to Aghabullogue's one and it was a  2-10 to 1-11 a two point game. Barryroe did have a late chance from a twenty metre free, which came to nothing and a late Aghabullogue point sealed the issue.
